A long-sleeve western flannel in brushed heavyweight fabric with a soft hand, printed with Backdrop Plaid in Phantom Blue, with a flap chest pocket, elbow patches and a hunter's yoke. Sized S to XXL.
Whether a chest pocket is any use comes down to the flap. Without one, a heavy shirt spills its pocket the moment its wearer bends; with one, the pocket holds. The rest of the shirt follows the same reasoning: patches at the elbows because that is where heavy cloth fails, a hunter's yoke across the shoulders in the manner of field clothing rather than tailoring, and a heavyweight cloth brushed until it feels soft.
Phantom Blue is deep enough to hold a big plaid in check, which helps on a shirt with this much cloth in it. Outer layer for most of autumn; under something heavier after that. Cold mornings, first light, long days that finish outdoors.
